Discovered the “Shadow of the Tomb Raider” ending that should not be in the game

It turns out that another final scene after the credits is included in the “Shadow of the Tomb Raider” if you have not updated the game online.

The ending was discovered by a user at tombraiderforums.com, but was long discussed as a false ending. However, it turned out to be the case and you can see it in the video below.

If you prefer not to hear about the difference, we would recommend stop reading now.

In the alternative version of the ending, Miss Croft is sitting in the villa of the family and the butler brings refreshments while she philosophes over the future – in line with the official ending.

The difference here is a letter addressed to Lara from Jacqueline Natla – the villain from the first game. There is also a little nod to the two pistols she became famous in the first games.

In a statement, the developers tell that the scene is one of the many they considered for the end of the game, but that the letter came as a mistake.

The official scene resembles but lacks the letter and instead has a drawing of a young Lara Croft with her parents, a pyramid and a dinosaur.

It is not yet known what direction the series now takes – or what time span in Lara Croft’s life it will take care of.
